The choir has been at the centre of music making in Chelmsford, under a succession of inspiring conductors, for nearly eighty years. During this time we have performed major choral works with symphony orchestras and baroque bands, classical and modem works with chamber groups as well as madrigals and part-songs a capella or with organ or piano. Of the soloists who have sung with us, many, if not already renowned, have gone on to become so.
If you would like to become a Friend of Chelmsford Singers, please click here.
Our next concert will be a performance of Mozart's Vesperae Solemnes de Confessore and Haydn's Missa in Angustiis (Nelson Mass) on Saturday 10th March 2012 at 7.30pm.
If you are an enthusiastic singer who would like to join us for concerts in the splendid acoustics of Chelmsford Cathedral and for our summer events, both in Essex and on the Continent, you are invited to find out more about us by visiting the rest of this web site or coming to a rehearsal.
We rehearse every Tuesday at 7.30pm during term time at The Cathedral School, Victoria Road. Anyone interested in singing is welcome to attend to experience the Singers, before deciding whether or not they want to join. However, new singers will only be accepted if they have been personally invited to join by the Musical Director or have passed an audition. We currently have vacancies for tenors, basses and possibly an alto or two.
A new page of images and music from the trip to Backnang will appear here shortly. If you have any suitable (or even unsuitable!) pictures of the weekend and would be happy to include them on this site, please contact John. |
